DRABBLE DRABBLE DROP | FICTION | LODESTAR GAZETTE
Twilight Reverie
Contours of true contentment
A Drabble is a 100-word short fictional story. You’ve got to ramble with words and form a nice, intriguing plot.
Word of the day: Equate
Vera stared at the sunset, the colours blending like a dream. “Do you ever equate beauty with peace?” she asked softly.
Ian looked at her, perplexed. “What do you mean?”
“Just…this moment. It’s perfect. Makes me feel at peace.”
He smiled, taking her hand. “I think beauty and peace are intertwined. One doesn’t exist without the other.”
She nodded, her eyes reflecting the fading light. “Maybe that’s why we’re here — to find those moments that correlate to true happiness.”
As the sun dipped below the horizon, they sat in silence, hearts light, knowing they’d found a piece of their puzzle.
The drabble is inspired by CJ Coop's drabble drop challenge and its associated word “equate.”
