Unveiling the Past
Secrets of buried civilizations
A Drabble is a 100-word short fictional story. You’ve got to ramble with words and form a nice, intriguing plot.
Word of the day: Copper
Underneath the sweltering sun, Juniper sifted through the sand, her fingers tracing the ancient ruins buried beneath.
She was an archaeologist who felt a surge of excitement after unearthing a copper amulet.
“Look at this!” she exclaimed, holding up the artefact. “It’s beautifully preserved.”
Miguel, her assistant, peeked over her shoulder, his eyes widening.
“That’s incredible! It must be centuries old.”
They carefully brushed off the dirt, only to find intricate carvings depicting a forgotten deity.
Juniper couldn’t help but wonder about the civilisation that had crafted such delicate art, lost to time but now rediscovered in the blazing heat.
The story is inspired by Jessica's Quill drabble drop challenge and its associated word, “copper.”
