Ants

Look at us

Following a trail laid out

Panicking when an obstacle blocks it

Only to find a different route

And with each obstacle we wonder why

We scream

We shout

We cry

Why did this happen to us?

Does the universe despise us so?

And in there is the failing

For of us the universe truly doesn’t know

It does not hear our wailing

And though we may scream and fuss

In the end we admit defeat

The universe does not care for us

No more than we for ants beneath our feet
