“Do you solemnly swear that you will tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, under pains and penalties of perjury?”

“I do solemnly and sincerely and truly declare and affirm that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

The court was in session.

Why?

Why should such a bastard even have to face charges?

Hell, the damn jackass might as well just commit suicide.

Seconds passed…minutes…soon it became hours…

“Order! Order in the court! The jury has decided! Dr. Joe Gordon has been proven not guilty.

What the hell? This man was a killer!

The TVs in the courtroom turned on.

“Breaking News! This just in, there have been reports of a large blast on Wall Street! Oh my god…thousands feared dead. Who is the perpetrator of this atrocious event? Oh my god…EVERYONE GET DOWN!”

The camera switched to interlude.

Then, another blast. This time in Times Square, near the news building.

He looked out the window. A large flash, not more than 2 miles away. The building rocked on its foundation.

Buildings were falling. Bodies on the streets.

Disaster struck. The penultimate blast, only a few feet from where he was.

The window was open. Not thinking, he grabbed his only personal possession with him, a briefcase. He opened it and stared at the picture of his love.

He jumped.
