Dream Vertebrae
“How to make a dream into reality step by step.”
With a dream comes a goal and with a goal there must be a plan. You must execute a plan with action in order for your dreams to come to fruition. This is how dreams become reality.
Sounds simple right?
Hell no.
Now before I get into this section of the article I want to do a little recap:
- Correlating your values and principles
- Discovering the who, what, when, where, how and whys that are important
- Vulnerability for longevity
- Strength and balance
- Awareness and change
These are all key components towards what is necessary for creating structure, answers, capacity, competence and focus. The only piece that’s missing is you. Each and every part is going to be uniquely different according to the type of person you are. These are the ways to take control of your life and create the freedom of lifestyle that you want.
Everyone will have their own route in life. Some are similar and some are completely different. Some will be navigated through groups and others individually. The important aspect to keep in mind is that there is always choice in how it is done. With enough effort and willpower you can make all the difference.
Let’s get started.
So what is that big goal of yours? What is that career you’ve always wanted? What is the travel trip of a lifetime you always wanted to go on but haven’t done? What is that yearning deep inside your soul that aches for more? What is your dream? What is it?
Whatever it is write it down at the top of a piece of paper or in a journal. If you want you can even put it in the center of a vision board. Whatever works for you in maintaining that focal point of life, do it.
Now using all of the notes in the recap what can you find that is relevant in relation to your goal?… Take as long as you need to. This may take days, weeks maybe, even months. Meditate on it… No, seriously. Meditate on it. Gather your thoughts, quiet your mind for at least 30 minutes a day whether that’s going for a walk, listening to music, exercising or spending time by yourself. Any way that you see fit according to your own comfort level and work/life balance will work appropriately. Let it come to you. Soon your mind will find ways to connect the dots. Every time you find a pattern of thought that connects to your dream write it down. Then once you have answered all of the questions in relation to the dream you can start to build your dream vertebrae.
So now you have a structure to build from, a basis of capacity to develop, a degree of conscious competence, a point of focus and a hell of a lot of questions that need answers.
Please take a step back, congratulate and reward yourself.
Seriously, you’re kicking ass.
Now is your time to shine.
You have gotten to the point where you are actively starting to change things for the better.
Cool tournament bracket huh?
If I were you right now I would be wondering why the hell this guy just introduced a competitive template into an article on making your dreams come true.
It’s weird I know…
Imagine that one of the brackets is gone for a second and it’s placed vertically like so:
I am going to refer to this bracket as a vertebrae for contextual support.
Your dream is at the top. Everyone you know, everything you do, the time you have, where you are in life, how you do what you do and why you do what you do is what is going to fill in the blanks.
This is the beginning of your dream vertebrae.
The cool part is that as long as you know what the end goal is or desired outcome you can integrate each different variable into the dream vertebrae and introduce a new strength and a weakness that can be worked upon.
So go ahead and start from top to bottom. Start with the outcome then drop down three tiers. Find what the top three variables are that support the outcome and jot it down. This is why you need to know the who, what, when, where, why and how. Continue this process indefinitely until you no longer have any questions to be answered for the dream you plan to make into reality with what information you have.
If you end up asking yourself more questions on how to get from point A to point B it’s okay. Trust me. This isn’t going to happen overnight…
(Unfortunately I could not find a three tier bracket to illustrate the example above.)
Things will change of course but you can always come back to a plan and choose how it will flow next…
Take your time and truly discover what is important to you. There is no need to rush what cannot be perfected. Learning that there is value in what is formed goes a long way. You want to find compromise.
So let’s say you end up setting everything up exactly how you’d like but there’s something or someone missing…
Maybe you’d like a friend or a loved one to help along side as you venture out towards your future. Maybe multiple people.
Perfect.
That’s what the first bracket image is for.
If you can communicate to someone with similar interests as well as values or principles with the same or similar dream then you can discover a world of positive change awaiting at your finger tips…
Remember: Teamwork makes the dream work.
I will leave you with this quote:
“Belief like fear or love is a force to be understood as we understand the theory of relativity and principals of uncertainty. Phenomena that determine the course of our lives. Yesterday, my life was headed in one direction. Today, it is headed in another. Yesterday, I believe I would never have done what I did today. These forces that often remake time and space, that can shape and alter who we imagine ourselves to be, begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. Our lives and our choices, like quantum trajectories, are understood moment to moment. That each point of intersection, each encounter, suggest a new potential direction.”
