There is a place in this planet where U.S. is underdog: FIFA World Cup

The United States of America is leader of the world in many ways. But there is one exception and Jurgen Klinsmann knew it.

Yes, we know that Silicon Valley is the heaven of global technology and famous for its innovation. Yes, we know that Michael Phelps is an American who collected record 18 Olympic gold medals and America is the highest metal winner in Olympic history too. Yes, it’s needless to say how U.S. is leading the world in so many things and how they influenced us these days. But there is an exception where United States can not be leader of the world, it’s soccer as they called it (they refuse to call football).

Jurgen Klinsmann, current USA national team manager, made a stir by saying “we cannot win this World Cup, because we are not at that level yet” and many people feel unease about the comment. Some even labelled him it’s “UnAmerican”. Well, it’s sad for patriotic American who believed in I-believe-that-we-will-win attitude. But it is true. Because USA is not Brazil in football and it is not Germany too. And Klinsmann exactly know it and America should know it.

For us, we have to play the game of our lives seven times to win the tournament. Realistically, it is not possible.” he said to NYT Magazine last week.

Before the team USA win the title of World Cup, we may not be confident to claim that the world is fully Americanized.

We are not shying away from anybody, but first we’ve got to make it through the group. So let’s stay with our feet on the ground and say: ‘Let’s get that group done first.’ Then the sky is the limit. But to say that we should win the World Cup, that’s just not realistic.

That’s the message from Jurgen to America with LOVE.
