The festive period — starting with Onam in Kerala, and with Durga Puja and Dussehra across most of the country, and lasting till Diwali — is the biggest shopping period, accounting for 30–45% of annual sales for several consumer industries. But what accounts for success is the budget spent on advertising and the ROAS (returns on advertising spend) , now those of new who are new to the term ROAS — ROAS is the actual profit that a company/advertiser makes based on the advertising of the product or service they are promoting. This can also be viewed as the amount of money that the company earns versus the amount that is spent on their advertising campaign.

The festive quarter this year stretching from October to December is likely to bring cheer to media houses after a lull of two years. While the 2016 festive period was shorter in duration and characterised by the surprise demonetisation move by the government, last year saw brands and broadcasters grappling with the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) as stated by the Business Standard .

Everyone talks about big brands and their budget spends , but what happens to those who do not have a hefty budget to attract customers ? Well, here are a few tips on what you can do to boost your brand awareness this festive season :

  1. Optimise your social media profiles with attractive content and offers to attract customers.
  2. From the innovation perspective , device a ‘Gift Strategy’ to your connected customers and channelise it in the right direction.
  3. Move from being exclusive to inclusive , try to synergize with global brands.
  4. Give rewards for reviews.
  5. Create an impactful video , believe me , videos are more impactful as they create visible value through the content.
  6. Measure your campaigns regularly .
