Standardizing on one platform is often preferred because it provides consistency and ease of use to those using the systems. But what if your company has standardized on Teams or Zoom, and you get a call from another provider? If you want to have that call in one of my conference rooms, you may have limited experience or not be able to use it at all.

When trying to run a meeting, the last thing you want is for your team to be distracted by the technology that’s supposed to help them work better together.

With Logitech Swytch, you no longer need multiple cables and adapters just so everyone can connect their laptop, mobile phone, or tablet to the conference camera and display in any room.

It only takes one cable — Swytch does all the rest!

This makes it easy for teams of any size (and every device) to meet, present, and stream over any service without having to worry about compatibility issues.

How does it work?

When you want to join a meeting, that is not what your company has standardized. You will simply bring your laptop to the meeting room with you.

Once in the meeting room, you will find the Swytch connector.

The Swytch connector has a USB-a side and a USB-c side. Plug the Swytch into whichever option you have available on your laptop.

You will see a count-down on the room display.

Your PC has now taken over the room.

The room is now an extension of your PC. The speakers, mic, and camera are now available to your PC for your call, and your screen is mirrored on the room screen.

After your meeting, you will unplug the Swytch from your PC. The same countdown will display, and the room will return to normal. Simple!

Why should I use SWYTCH instead of the built-in BYOD option in RallyBar?

The built-in BYOD option is a two cable connection:

The End User would need to plug in the HDMI cable AND connect a USB cable connected to the Logitech system (Rally Plus, Rally, RallyBar, MeetUp, etc.).

Here are the issues I see with that:

1. Many Laptops no longer have HDMI ports; they sometimes have DVI and others nothing. So you would have to provide the necessary adapters to convert from HDMI to whatever they have (DVI, USB, etc.)
2. The cable you run to connect USB can be either USB-A or USB-C, but what if the laptop has USB-C, but the cable that was run was USB-A (more adapters)
3. There is a risk of adding complexity to what should be a simple plug-and-play workflow.

Adding unneeded complexity to the end-user is never a good idea.

Logitech has a better option; a single connection option:

The SWYTCH has a single cable with both USB-A and USB-C options, and there is no need to connect HDMI.

The workflow is simple and easy.

1. The End User simply walks into the conference room and then plugs the SWYTCH into their personal laptop.
2. The SWYTCH then allows the end user’s laptop to take over (or hijack) the technology in the room.
3. The laptop’s screen is now displayed on the main display; the mics in the room become the mics for the laptop, the camera becomes the camera for the laptop, and the in-room speakers become part of the laptop as well.
4. Once disconnected the room is returned to its native state.

Now that it is simple for anyone to use their laptop for team collaboration.
