Comparing Logitech Touch Control Panels
Logitech TapIP vs Logitech TAP in Video Conferencing Rooms
The Logitech TapIP and the Logitech TAP are both touch controllers for video conferencing rooms. However, there are some key differences between the two devices.
Logitech TAP (USB-connected)
Cannot be used over a network
Must be physically connected to a Logitech-bundled PC via USB over Cat5e technology
Has an HDMI ingest port
Certified for Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
The USB-connected TAP (or Classic TAP) is directly connected to the Room Compute. The Classic TAP offers an HDMI ingest at the device, which simplifies things by eliminating the need to run an HDMI cable out to the table for HDMI ingest.
Note: HDMI Ingest is available only on MTRoW (Microsoft Teams Rooms over Windows). HDMI Ingest on TAP for MTRoA (Microsoft Teams Room over Android) is not currently supported.
The Classic version of TAP is certified for both Teams and Zoom. And will work for MTRoA (Microsoft Teams Room over Android), MTRoW (Microsoft Teams over Windows, ZRoA (Zoom Room over Android) and ZRoW (Zoom Room over Windows).
Logitech TapIP
Supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) and is a network-based device
Connects to the Logitech RoomMate, Logitech Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini, and Zoom Room PCs wirelessly over the network
Does not have an HDMI ingest port
Certified in Microsoft Teams Room over Android and Zoom Room (Windows-based or Android-based)
The Logitech TAPIP is a network device and runs Logitech’s CollabOS firmware. It’s powered via Power over Ethernet (POE). It has built-in WIFI for rooms without a network port available (A POE injector would be used in this case for power). The TAPIP doesn’t have an HDMI ingest port.
Tap IP is certified for Microsoft Teams; however it will only connect to MTRoA (Microsoft Teams Room over Android) deployments. The TAP IP is also certified for Zoom. Zoom versions work for both ZRoA (Zoom Room over Android) and ZRoW (Zoom Room over Windows).
