What are the differences between USB (or Classic) TAP and the TAP IP?
Classic or USB TAP
The USB-connected TAP (or Classic TAP) is directly connected to the Room Compute. The Classic TAP offers an HDMI ingest at the device, which simplifies things by eliminating the need to run an HDMI cable out to the table for HDMI ingest.
Note: HDMI Ingest is available only on Microsoft Teams Rooms over Windows or MTRoW. (HDMI Ingest on TAP for MTRoAndroid will be coming soon.)
The Classic version of TAP is certified for both Teams and Zoom.
The Logitech TAPIP is a network device and runs Logitech’s CollabOS firmware. It’s powered via Power over Ethernet (POE). It has built-in WIFI for rooms without a network port available (A POE injector would be used in this case for power). The TAPIP doesn’t have an HDMI ingest port.
Tap IP is certified for Microsoft Teams; however it will only connect to MTRoA (Microsoft Teams Room over Android) deployments. The TAP IP is also certified for Zoom. Zoom versions work for both Windows-based Zoom Rooms and Android-based Zoom rooms.
