I’m Lydia Musset. I’m the wife of one of the winemakers at Vignoble Musset-Roullier.
Clément Bouchet, Export Sales Assistant at Vignoble Musset-Roullier for about a year and a half.
Our estate is situated in La Pommeraye-sur-Loire. We have 36 hectares of vineyards.
Wines and soils
Grapes
In these vineyards, we principally grow two varieties: Cabernet Franc and Chenin.
Wines
We make three main wines at the estate:
- a dry AOC Anjou Blanc, called “Moulin de Chateaupanne”,
- a 100% Cabernet Franc, called “Les Neuf Vingt”,
- and a very nice Crémant de Loire called “Noctambule”, for which also use some Chardonnay.
Sales and export
Intercultural issues
When you are thinking about exporting, you really need to respect and consider intercultural issues. Because you cannot discuss and do business in the same manner with people based in Japan, as with those who are in Texas, or in the UK.
we like to know who we are dealing with, how they work, who works for the business and where they operate
What we are looking for first of all is personal contact. Someone who shows up saying “Hi, what’s the price?” Is going to be a little difficult for us, because firstly we like to know who we are dealing with, how they work, who works for the business and where they operate. We like to take our time.
You are welcome at the estate
For example, next month, I will be meeting with a buyer with whom I’ve been in discussions for a year and a half you, you have to consider inviting them and telling them “You are welcome at the estate. We want to show you how we work.”
We are very glad to share our ideas and welcome people, and that is very, very important.
