Lingerie Care & Laundry Detergents
As Lola & August and Naturæ by LA work towards a more sustainable future, it is vital to educate our customers on proper lingerie care to prolong the use of your undergarments.
From proper laundry care to choosing the right laundry detergents, it is possible to reduce waste and exposure to harmful chemicals.
Hand-sewn in Toronto, Canada from imported fabrics, our luxury lingerie line should last you quite a few years, depending on number of wears and how you care for your pieces.
Hand wash the lingerie in cold water with like colors using one of the listed detergents below. Ensure the detergent has been properly rinsed before hanging or laying flat to dry. We recommend hanging for silk or satin items to prevent ironing which will dull the silk and, of course, to save energy.
Made locally in Toronto, Canada by our team of talented seamstresses, the Naturæ by LA panties are made from 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton and the fabric is either ethically dyed or whitened using safe peroxides.
Machine wash on “delicate” with like colors in cold water using a light or natural detergent. Hang or lay flat to dry to save energy, prevent pilling, and to prolong the lifespan of your Organic Cotton Undies. Please note it is normal for our undies to have a slight change of color after a few washes.
Update from Sandra (December 20 2020): After wearing our own panties for a few years and testing them out by throwing them in the washer/dryer, our panties have proven to be very durable. Although the dryer caused some minor pilling, the panties have all lasted us, the founders, for over 3 years each. I know the condition of panties is unique to each of us, but I for one will no longer wear a panty if it has a single hole in it, and these have so far been intact. You can skip the dryer for reasons stated above or you can choose to toss em in, on delicate of course ;)
“Some estimates suggest that the average American household does EIGHT loads a week. That’s a lot of laundry! And unfortunately most of that laundry is washed with synthetic chemicals that may adversely affect human health. And when your laundry drains? All those chemicals enter our water supply and affect aquatic life.” ~ “Is Your Laundry Detergent Toxic”, Earth Easy blog
We recommend using natural laundry detergents or making your own. Follow the link above to learn more about alternative bleach and fabric softener options.
