Online spaces for everyone
How we’re moving our offline events, online
Last week we announced that we had decided to cancel a large proportion of our IRL meet ups due to ongoing health concerns around Coronavirus. We know that many of you will have been looking forward to LFG this weekend, LG Town Hall next weekend, EGX Rezzed and even Welly Friday tonight.
While those events may not be happening anymore, we want to try and ensure we create as many spaces and opportunities as possible for you to play, chat, spend time together and make new friends. So over the last week we’ve been working hard bolstering our online events and meet ups, and we wanted to share with you our plans.
Starting today we have a bunch of new online events for you all to enjoy:
• From 19:00 tonight we’re hosting a Jackbox Party Pack night through our discord channel — just grab your phone (and some snacks!) and jump on our discord server at discord.londongaymers.co.uk to join in with the live stream!
• Our regular Thursday Nintendo Night will still be running — 26 March will be an Animal Crossing special! Just head over to #animalcrossing or #nintendo channels on our discord server.
• Board gaming doesn’t have to be cancelled either, on 25 March we’re running online games of Carcassonne — the game is cross platform so join in no matter what you own it on! Details of the event can be found here https://www.facebook.com/events/299023757750157/
• We have fantastic online communities and guilds for both Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft, both of which are very active and raid regularly (FF on Tuesday, WoW on Wednesday and Thursday). To join in just head over to #ffxiv or #worldofwarcraft on our discord server
• We’re setting up an open 24/7 LG Minecraft server for the creative, explorer types! Will share the details of that very shortly (If we run out of space we will add more capacity so please do join in!) Again this will be on our discord server.
• We have a large team of fantastic Dungeons and Dragons DM’s who run a bunch of online D&D nights every single week! So if you’re looking to gather your party and venture forth, just head over to #dungeonsanddragons on discord and give them a wave to join a game.
• There will be a bunch of games this Saturday night for WG members, head over to discord and let Kat (also known as Popelady) know what you’re wanting to play!
• We’re also working on a number of online gaymer pub quiz’s — more details to follow shortly but maybe start sharpening up on your gamer general knowledge.
• And finally, there are always people online looking to play games — League of Legends and Overwatch are very popular and have dedicated gaming rooms on discord so pop over and introduce yourself
Although we can’t be together in person, we are able to share our love of gaming online and still meet up, chat and play together!
We hope these events will start to help relieve some of the cabin fever people may be feeling — and we’re looking to expand this list out as much as we need to over the coming weeks — so if you have any ideas or want to help please get in touch!
