Covert Narcissist Red Flags that I Ignored

There are very few topics I struggle to write about from my personal experiences. This is one of them.
Part of the reason I struggle is because I consider myself an intelligent person, so to have been completely taken in by a covert narcissist is embarrassing and not something I enjoy admitting.
That said, if my experience can help someone else avoid the traps and red flags then it seems a worthy cause to release the thoughts from my head and let them out onto paper.
So here we go:
Red Flag #1 — Too serious too quickly
It’s been said 300 million times, but it truly is the number one red flag. When I met — we’ll call him “Jim” — I was smitten. We seemed to have everything in common.
If I had written out a list of my “wants” in a partner, he checked every single box, and then created some extra boxes I didn’t even know I wanted.
We met online and within a conversation or two, I “knew” we were soul mates.
I’ve since learned that was 100% by design. But at the time, it just felt “meant to be”.
