My daughter was a Senior in high school in 2020 when a virus changed everything. This is the story of how the pandemic affected her and her journey with Long Covid.

September 2019

Early Fall 2019 started out normally — photos for her high school ID, buying books, finding a date to the Homecoming Dance.

She was a good student. She had sweet friends and a job at a local taco restaurant. She was happy and excited about the future. College life was finally within her grasp.

January 2020

We entered 2020 with shiny expectations. She started dating the guy that had taken her to the Homecoming dance. They were cute and happy together.

February 2020

We took a quick trip to Florida. One last mother/daughter trip before she headed off to college. Early one morning as I was scrolling through the news on my phone, I read about a new virus in Wuhan, China. I told her about it at breakfast. We felt bad for the people “over there.” The news was…
