42.95km’s of pain

In a little under 6 weeks your favorite Aussie Financial Services, User Experience & Social Media blogger (wait are there any others?) will be smashing out all 42.95km’s of the 2011 Melbourne Marathon.

A colleague and I will be joining forces to form Team Takeover Targets. This is both our first time at this distance, and we’re hoping to raise a bit of money for the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre along the way.

Keep track of my training

I run with a very cool Garmin 305 which allows me to GPS track all my training runs up to the big day. I’m publishing these to the web so you can check out my progress too.

Supporting CPEC

CPEC is acknowledged as a world leader in providing specialist education programs for children with cerebral palsy. The CPEC professional staff who work at the Centre in Glen Waverley are renowned internationally as the best in their field.

It costs around $15,000 per child per year to receive eight hours of service per week for 40 weeks. CPEC receives nearly $6,000 per child for the year from the State Government. The $9,000 shortfall is offset by the families who pay fees, do fundraising and seek donations. Funds raised are for their babies programs and school children’s education services. CPEC has recently extended their existing building to provide their State Government endorsed education and training courses for teachers and therapists throughout Australia.

Your support is very much appreciated!

I’m calling out for readers to make a small donation to assist us in reaching our target of $500. Our employer AXA has generously agreed to match any contributions up to our target so even a small donation can have a great impact.
