Around the world, millions have become obsessed with the Netflix Series Bridgerton. Those who begin watching the show, are immediately transmuted into the 1811–1820 Regency Era.

Don’t worry, there are no spoilers in this article.

Have you ever thought about how the high-society scandals and romances of Bridgerton mirror the challenges and triumphs we face today? Do you see yourself in any of these characters?

Why you are obsessed with Bridgerton? It’s relatable!

1. The romance and drama

2. The location

3. The fashion

4. The people

5. The music

1. The romance and drama

The show highlights old fashioned romance. We see how the womens families were extremely concerned with how noble and wealthy the suitors family are. This directly dictates who gets married to whom.

While the courting of women is severely different from today’s standards in many corners of the world, we are in awe of how things used to be. There is a level of curiosity that is lingering as you watch how the women will react to the men.

2. The locations

Every single episode is packed with gorgeous backdrops.

Whether it is inside a mansion for a ball, a historic estate, or in the neverending luscious garden, the scenery is traditional and elegant.

The fine details in the patterns used on the couch and on the rugs in contrast to the paint on the walls are immaculate. The gold trim amongst picture frames and walls are dripping with luxe. The gorgeous flowers and greenery truly transport you to an ethereal garden.

3. The fashion

You can’t help but to be in great awe from the costuming of the Netflix show Bridgerton. The clothing shows the traditional dresses worn by women and the suits worn by men. The beading and lace work on the dresses, the accessories, the wigs, and the footwear are all very well thought out.

However, there is a stark difference in the types of dresses worn. If your family is wealthy, then you go to the modiste for a new custom gown with beading, lace, and luxurious fabric for every ball. If your family does not have money, you may have to wear a previously worn gown to the ball. Or worse, a gown from last season.

Does this concept connect with someone you know or a personal experience?

While I am not so sure how accurate the clothing is to the 1811–1820 Regency Era, it is still incredible to look at. You can’t help but wonder how it was dressing in the traditional clothing everyday.

Each dress, a little different from the next.

4. The people

The scandals of Bridgerton’s high society reflect the struggles and victories of the modern era. The show’s characters are juggling the demands of family and society, looking for romance, and getting caught up in rumors.

While the details of each matter differ to today, we all see ourselves in these characters.

5. The music

The music within the show is whimsical and captivating. There are covers of current music that are recreated to the 1811–1820 Regency Era. The familiarity of the music and at the same time consistent with the 1800’s era is something that I haven’t seen in other shows.

While being submerged in the episode, this music is a reminder that these characters are just like us. Likewise, the characters mingle, dance, gossip, search for love and form friendships.

I have to say, I personally have been streaming and listening to the Bridgerton Soundtrack for weeks.

If you’ve ever wondered why can’t you stop watching Bridgerton, here’s why. We have a lot more in common than you may think.
