When Negative Self-Talk Creeps In, Do This:

Too many of us are being hard on ourselves without any compassion.

There’s positive self-talk and negative self-talk.

One gives you an optimistic outlook while the other is blunt and deflating.

The things we tell ourselves affect us more than the things others tell us. For instance, if you’re called “ugly” or “stupid” by someone, then you can only be phased if you let yourself.

When it comes down to it, the only voice that matters is the inner voice in our head, not anyone else’s.

Talk to Yourself like you would a best friend. You’re not gonna say “you’re so dumb, why would you do that idiot”.

Instead, you’re gonna say something like, “We made a few mistakes, here are the options we have, and we’ll get through this”.

Can you notice the difference? One has empathy and compassion, while the other is full of put-downs and does not inspire or motivate.

Depending on the type of person you are, you can give yourself tough love however it helps you.

My point is that when you make a mistake or something goes south, filter out the negative thoughts and pick yourself up with kind words.
