If you got here, I suppose that you’re interested in cryptocurrencies. I also hope that you value in-depth research, and dislike news and price discussions. Because that’s the people that would like Longcaller.
The idea behind Longcaller is to provide educational and insightful pieces on cryptocurrencies and blockchain. It’s started as a standalone website and now it’s expanding to Medium.
For almost half of the year, I am actively researching different cryptocurrencies and the tech behind it. In 5 months, I’ve managed to write 24 reviews. Each review is a summary of all the technical information about one cryptocurrency. I drop all the boring stuff from the white papers and try to depict what’s interesting about the particular coin.
These coins that I write about are not some random projects that started ICO 2 months ago. I pick fully working coins with an established history. Some of the examples are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, Sia, and IOTA.
Besides that, I am working on producing a text course on cryptocurrencies. That course will be helpful for those who want to quickly grasp the main concepts without spending weeks or months gathering bits of information. The first article is about blockchain. I plan to make about 10 articles, releasing one per month. The topics will include smart contracts, encryption, mining, privacy, and others. The text course will be both available on the website and here.
Moreover, I plan to make some exclusive content for Medium. I plan to make research posts, covering one narrow topic per post. These posts will be loaded with data, graphs, and probably a bit math.
Q&A
Why not publish everything on Medium?
Medium can’t provide everything I need. The Medium is best for posts that are independent of each other. It doesn’t provide rich navigational tools and interactivity. For example, it’s very hard here to make the sortable list of cryptocurrencies and that’s what I want to do in near future.
Why not publish everything on the website?
Because of people. There’re many smart people on Medium. During last few months, I met so many great minds here (and by met I mean reading and stalking them), and I would love to meet many more. Medium is the unique place, at least in crypto space. There’s no other online crypto community where people actually deeply care about the technology and future. Twitter may also fit there, but it’s too short.
What’s your long-term vision for Longcaller?
Make a place for people to learn about cryptocurrencies. It might be a collection of articles, a list of interviews, a podcast, a forum, anything. The only thing that matters to me is that it needs to be useful and enjoyable.
