Disabling precise location tracking on your iPhone involves a few simple steps. Initially, many iOS apps request permission for precise location tracking. When you open an app for the first time, you typically encounter options like “Allow Once,” “Allow While Using App,” or “Don’t Allow.” However, there’s also a less noticeable option labeled “Precise: On” in the top left corner. This button enables you to choose between precise tracking or using an approximate location. Precise location can pinpoint your position down to a specific building, while approximate location generally indicates your city area.

To disable precise location tracking for individual apps, follow these steps:

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app on your iPhone.
  2. Swipe down and select ‘Privacy & Security’.
  3. Tap ‘Location Services’ at the top.
  4. Pick an app from the list to check if it’s using your precise location.
  5. Find the toggle next to ‘Precise Location’ at the bottom and tap to turn it off.

It’s important to note that turning off precise tracking doesn’t stop apps from tracking your location entirely; they will still have access to your approximate location. If you wish to disable location tracking entirely for an app, choose “Never” in the app’s location settings. To turn off all location tracking, you need to disable the main ‘Location Services’ toggle in your iPhone’s settings.
