How were you inspired to begin your channel?

Before I began my channel, I was pursuing acting and also did some local modeling. I have been in front of a camera for photographers and also have recorded skits that I would submit to various auditions for TV and movies. The thought of doing my own channel was inspired during this time; it began as just a hobby. In my other ventures I was never myself, as with acting or modeling, you must always be what the casting director or photographer wants you to be. I found having my own channel to be relaxing and a place I could be myself. I began uploading one video a month at the most. I never really thought anyone would be interested in watching me do my own make-up or if
recommending products would help anyone. However Within a year, my hobby turned into a job where I upload twice a week. I now have a growing subscriber base and I consider YouTube my job since it is the second thing besides being in college — which I invest my time in.

Where did you start?

I live in a small town in the Pan Handle of Florida and I started creating my videos in a spare room in the home. I used my iphone and slowly began to perfect my skills by
researching equipment. I was already knowledgeable of make-up, but having a channel and holding the attention of subscribers go hand and hand. I am a part of ipsy, however I am not located near any of their studios, therefore my videos are created in my own studio, which too allot of research to create. It is located in my home! In the same spare room I began to experiment in! It took a little over a year to perfect my filming and I am still always learning.

What inspires you and keep you moving forward?

I really enjoy what I do and although it is my job, I do not find it to be a task. I think we must always find joy in the things we choose to put our precious time in. I find the joy and inspiration in my subscribers and also when a company reaches out simply to say” they enjoyed “ my
tutorial. I know being on YouTube is a very exposed platform, however I love hearing from my subscribers and they ultimately inspire me to keep moving forward.

Why are you passionate about it?

I consider myself a very passionate person, when I invest my time in something, I do give it 100%. I feel my channel is a reflection of me and who I am; I could never
see myself without it. I have created a brand that appeals to my subscribers who come back to my channel to see new tutorials weekly and I want to continue to create a very fun and different channel for them.

What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?

I love the fact there are so many beauty brands to choose
from. I find that with make-up you can be yourself and
not have any boundaries. I also love the fact that I am in
an industry that helps individual’s transform and feel beautiful. I overall love the feeling beauty gives, everyone wants to feel pretty and handsome and I enjoy showing how to create that feeling on my channel.

What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?

I am 20 years old and feel I can relate to younger and older age groups. I find that I am able to connect with my subscribers as I always try to respond to them and listen to them. My channel has been growing for about 1 year now and I have some fresh ideas along with a fresh outlook. I am not sponsored therefore my opinions are very much honest and my own. I consider my channel to be a place where you can find something a little different then what you may see trending.

How do you organize/plan out your content?

I currently am on a schedule to upload content twice a week. I have various titles of videos for my channel, one is called “Tea Time” and these videos are my most personal, as they are chitchat and I update my subscribers with what I have been doing. My Drug-Store Divas are simply all drug store make-up tutorials. I do at times take requests from my subscribers, for example when I am asked for specific tutorial by a certain amount of subscribers — it them becomes a demanded video and I will film it. I also love dedicating videos to certain topics or holidays; I do always work a week an advance. My content is always ready for upload!

What is your goal for your channel?

My goals are to continue uploading videos and I have also considered possibly doing “life vloggs “at some point. As a short term goal I would like to continue to upload good content and use the next year to get better acquainted with my subscribers, perhaps take on requested make-up tutorials continue to overall better my channel and attract a diverse group of subscribers.

Dreams?

Ultimately I hope my make-up channel can perhaps inspire me later in life to possibly create my own make-up brand. This would be my long-term goal. I have been very inspired by Michelle Phan and I love the direction her
career has taken her.

Who are your typical followers?

I do not have a typical following base, however I do notice my followers relate to me very much, they “get me” and I will say they are some of the nicest people I have “Never met”. In this age we are so lucky to have the tools to be
able to communicate via social media and I have been able to actually “See” snap chats of them. I have seen many young, mommies and mature women; I love hearing from them and I love all the support I get from these amazing
followers.

How would you describe them?

If I summed my followers into one person — I would say they are my best friend, someone who can make you laugh and lift you up and can also tell you when your wearing the wrong shade of lipstick AND your hair is out of place!
I love there honestly and humor and I hope to one day meet them.

Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty
industry?

I would let anyone who is trying to break into the beauty industry to be unique and original. Cameras are transparent and they can see your soul, so always be honest and take the time to reply to your subscribers. Prepare your skin for battle as there is always something that may not appeal to someone and its very possible communication over special media can be at difficult. Overall love the art and take your time, things will not happen suddenly but when they begin to, it feels amazing!

What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare
regimen?

In middle school and some of high school, I did not have the “best” skin, I do get asked what I use since my skin at this point in my life has improved greatly. I did
use a dermotogist in my younger teen years. Sometimes you do need medical care and not products for your skin to flourish. I started off medical products and now thankfully I understand my complex skin. I choose to use allot serums on my skin daily. My go-to skincare at this time are products by “Foxbrim”. At this time they are working very well for me, however I do feel at times there is a need to switch up, I think this keeps your skin from adjusting to one particular product. My go to beautyproducts would be mascara and lipstick, at times that is all I wear, especially when I am headed to class or simply out shopping.

What products are you currently using on a daily basis?

At this time my typical everyday look is a “gold bronzed” eye look with a coral lip. My brands fluctuate but I do usually stick to the same color scheme. Allot of my
tutorials are glam and full face, I’m often asked if they are my everyday looks, however most of my everyday looks are very natural — the no make-up, make-up looks.

What’s your personal style?

My personal style is a pair of jeans with wedges on any given day. I do love wearing heels with everything and I am addicted to accessories, especially jewelry. I will
always have some on, especially necklaces and bracelets. Overall my personal style is always beachy and casual, since I live in a beach town. I do love getting glamed up
for events and when I do I choose long dresses with heels.

How does your personal style influence your branding?

Allot of my branding on YouTube is very glam and at times my looks are for special occasions. I think there is a majority of subscribers that watch my tutorials because
they simply enjoy them, while others possibly would like to learn a new look. My personal style is very simple and I feel it’s a little too simple to be able to reach different audiences. I mostly have to let my make-up application influence my style in order to relate to a diverse audience such as YouTube. My personality is what I feel brands me, I am just your typical girl who loves make-up, the friend you had in High-school who was asked to do” Prom Makeup” for them — which I was asked plenty of times.

What’s your favorite brand and why?

I have used so many brands on my channel; it would not be fair to say I have a favorite. However, at this time I am using NYX Cosmetics. They have been very generous with the NYX FACE AWARDS, after making it to the top 30, I was gifted with most of their collection — I am loving that. I am a NYX Girl at the moment. I do recommend for people to explore all brands, I can usually find at least one
favorite product in a brand.
