Holiday

A Poem

It’s hard to say what’s a holiday
and what isn’t, when you live
the life that you wanted to
every minute of every day
and even though it’s not perfect,
it has this sense of rhythm
that lulls you to sleep each night
and wakes you gently each morn

So, you go about your day and
realize that today is a holiday
and things aren’t open as usual
so you can watch more shows
and maybe have one more cookie
while you do your best to spend
as much time as possible
with the people you love
even though they are spread out
all over the world, like when
you drop a bag of Skittles
and they go everywhere

One day, you will find a yellow one
underneath that cabinet in the
corner of the room and realize
that every day that you are able
to breathe another breath is a
holiday and that today is just
another day in the matrix,
but with presents
