Loose Words

Homo Ludicrous

In search of certainties

Photo by James Lee on Unsplash

I don’t know how to force the world
into a shape that I can hold
to pin it down, a scroll unfurled,
frail parchment that smells of old.

I don’t know how to force myself
into a fearless mental mold,
inquiries of books on shelves
once more have left me unconsoled.
