Seeking truth in a world of lies

Water, water everywhere
Green trees and lush grass
Somehow feels manmade to me
After a decade in the desert

Pines planted and grown only
To be cut down for menial
Human Needs
Replanted once again

Is anything genuine anymore?
We gather, hide, and curate
Perfect images for the world
Perfect trees for the picking

I want the asymmetrical mess
The fight for dear life
A shimmer and shine behind the eyes
Instead of the dull and dead

Robotic and manufactured
Taking orders from people who
Have never lived among us
Who have never had to fight

I’ll be that one tree in the forest
With wood that’s no good for
Toilet paper, Walmart receipts
But birds and worms call home
