Hummingbird Messenger

A poem

Aug 8 · 1 min read

a hummingbird messenger came
to visit me yesterday

her flash of buzzing iridescence
stopping by my window

she hovered in place, determined
to get my attention

her beak knocking on the glass
ting, ting, ting

she spoke to me in magic
telepathic tongue

Look! look at me…
aren’t I fantastical?

language I had never known
until I did

Wake up! she said
you can do this

get to work! there is
much to be done

my hummingbird messenger vanished
with a buzzing hum

her inspiration safely tucked
into my wondrous heart
