What if there was a chip
implanted in the brain
to see past the bull and the lies
and all the shades of grey?

To find serenity in simple things
or taste words as exquisite as silken copper sunsets
and as tarnished as tangled clouds in a burnt sable sky?
Would any of this bring us closer to joy?

What if there was an algorithm embedded
in the soul that could decipher when life becomes more like
a scorching pot of boiling water
and we should proceed with caution?

I’ve learned that intuition is a feeling in the gut
but I can’t explain why we intersect when we seem
like trajectories headed on different paths.
Are we like meteors
or falling stars
that were destined to collide
for better or for worse?
Is the universe simply beautiful
or is it broken and chipped
like a piece of wedgewood china?
And can the jagged edges be something to hold onto
and glued back even when life
becomes difficult and cluttered?
What does it take to stay together
and untangle all of life’s little messes
when all you feel are the cuts of the tiny, jagged edges?
