Muse
Hindsight is 20/20

Diving into every heartbreak
Exploring emotions that once
Wreaked havoc, kept me in bed
Until stomach grumbles woke me
From a medically induced slumber
I now go over every slight, every touch
With sloppy, cursive writing, sipping
From my coffee under artificial light
As if I’m building a grocery list and
You are just another item for purchase
From time to time, unresolved pain and
Shame rear their ugly heads but
I smile knowing you’re just a memory
Another muse to enhance my poems
When I’m in need of a darker shade
