Smile Lines

I love the way that smiling
has etched those lines
into your sun-kissed face
tracing the wages of
your pilgrim’s road
the praises of your love
your desolation of fallen angels
and entourage of demons
flighted in the dark
and in place of eyes
an empty space in which
the universe appears
