The Indifferent North Star
A Free-verse poem
Your once warm dark brown eyes
overcast with murky clouds
of indifference,
drenching me
in a dreary flood of loneliness;
Cupid not showering His Holiness
at my door,
my soul somewhere
offshore;
Your utmost disregard
puncturing,
and more brutal
than the loneliest of
unrequited love;
dreaming of the familiar
warmth of those brown eyes
of a thousand sunlit skies;
I know I will find the oars
to bring me
back to the shores;
but aren’t you supposed
to be my North Star
lighting up
right up to my core?
