The Journey
A poem
Pass through,
Heavy as you are.
I feel too weak to carry you.
Why have you come today?
Don’t you know I have a lot on?
You’re just flowing, I get that.
My affairs are none of your concern.
What are you, anyway?
Some kind of journeying
Energy field?
You probably can’t read my words.
That’s fine.
I close my eyes and many worlds explode inside me.
Unnatural natural surroundings
Veiled in clouds of crimson smoke,
Rivers flowing at the speed of light,
This abandoned little girl
In the middle of it all.
Waiting for it to slow down.
Which it will. Give it time.
A calamity feels so only in the moment.
After, we call it surviving.
So while you’re catching your breath
To rattle my insides,
Drip-feed me a grain of hope.
Leave a bit of starlight with me
As you continue your cosmic journey,
You random,
Inexplicable force,
You.
