The Long Goodbye
A Poem

Do you think of me often?
Or remember me at all?
Do you think of
times we held
each other close and
whispered soft nothings?
Or have those times
vanished like torn secrets?
Do you think of
movies we saw,
arms locked,
hearts nuzzling together?
Or has time’s fog
blocked the picture’s light?
Do you think of
nights we spent
drunk on cheap rosé,
spinning records full of love songs?
Or have cobwebs dulled
that needle?
Do you think of
books we traded,
secret notes tucked inside,
bookmarks to our love?
Or has that library
burned like Alexandria?
Do you think of
time we shared,
the love we exchanged,
comforting ports in the storm?
Does it matter that I
keep such things alive?
Or would it hurt less
to forget?
