There is so much noise in the silence of this world.
So much color in the darkness of a moonlit night.
The poetry of the universe is not for the fainthearted.
A vision of wildness, at once beautiful and devastating.

As a child, I gazed up at the night sky, amazed
at the possibility of a universe teeming with life.
Now, much older, I am dumbstruck
by the breathtaking loneliness of a silent universe.
Not just a canvas for great events to act upon,
but the sheer relentlessness of the canvas itself.

We are but a stitch in the fabric of existence.
The universe doesn’t care for us. We are the Universe.
A transient moment in the epochs of time.
