The Ocean, My Cold Mother
I always know what to do

I dive under the waves
On a chilly April day
The sun deceiving me
The same way you did
She envelops me
Holding me like a child
A child raised by the sea
Pulled from her grasp too soon
As I sit in discomfort
Waiting for my cocoon to burst
Praying it was all worth it
I let the tide sway me
For a second I see you
On land, smiling, cheering me on
Wrapping me in a towel
Taking me away again
But instead, this time
I wrap myself
And coddle my ego
My intuition has finally won
