When I was resurrected
from the old box under
the dark staircase, he had
the color of my past!
My sweet puppeteer steered
me well past my breath —
I scraped my locked knees
despite the strings.
But I rule the beholder's eyes,
as they move with me onstage;
but when the past takes
a front seat in the backstage,
all you can do is
keep playing...
