This Tiny Pit in My Stomach

A Poem

Photo by Ivan Aleksic on Unsplash

This tiny pit in my stomach
reminds me of regret
as it pushes gently on me
to alert me of something untoward

Maybe it’s a gut feeling
or just another heartstring,
but either way, it hurts
even though it’s so small
