To the Color of Your Mouth

my lake

how black sky
churns us
soots us
birds flee
wind hot / gone

rain beats
to the color of your mouth
widens to eat your water
battens the horizon
to your breast

tarnished clouds
unleash

caught together
we scream
while we live

o

release

…still
after
thunder and graves

float with me
don’t mind the detritus
browning in sun
cracked teeth descending
on our peace
jealous eyes bitter

no

let us flow
sediment-deep
I in you
you in me
where we fill
watered sky
with our love
