As experience streams through us
As shadows of leaves drift
through complex patterns
on a nearby sunlit wall,
your glance and smile
are fleetingly reflected
in the mirror of the cafe,
while seagulls loiter overhead
screeching and chattering
and strangers at the other table
drink beer and talk about their day.
