We Can Call His Bluff

(THE CROSS ROADS: Sam feels apprehensive about trusting Gollum)

SAM
Turn around, turn around, we’re so lucky we’ve here
And have survived for now
Turn around, turn around

FRODO
Why’re you worried so?

SAM
I don’t quite know

FRODO
Sam you need to stop your worries

SAM
We should have stayed with Faramir, Mr. Frodo

FRODO
No

SAM
He begged us, ‘not the stairs, no!’

FRODO
Smeagol swore help

SAM
I’m not certain

FRODO
I know you fight
But still in the long run
But he deserves a chance to
Not be beat or shunned

SAM
We’re far from done

FRODO
Learn, we’re bound, learn we’re bound and we’re
Lucky, we are!
To have survived for now

SAM
He embellishes, scheming and plans with strife
Unstable to not lie, scams are rife

FRODO
This hellish plan balances on a knife
Learn, we’re bound, learn we’re bound
Learn to where we walk
Learn to where this’s uncharted
The fact that we’ve survived is a miracle

SAM
Just stay alive, we can call his bluff
And if he’s compiled
Scares to faction of our trials
And goes rampant on our kind
Then we call his bluff
I don’t pretend to know
The challenges you’re facing
The wounds you keep embracing, not berating, that’s not kind
But I am afraid
I know he is varied
But as long as we comb every single thing he says
We can call his bluff
These stairs climb on dreadfully
It isn’t funny
But let me rant a few more lines
If I could fret here on this long path
I bet you’ll be a part of a narrative
In the stories they will write someday
The great stories that really matter

FRODO
Don’t forget Samwise the Brave
Sounds like the better stuff
Sam helped when things got rough
Samwise is strong and tough
