Commemorating the visit of the great blue traveler of the oceans, celebrate nature thru Loreto’s 2017 Blue Whale Festival, which for the second time takes place from March 16th to 18th, 2017; in the Olde Capital of The Californias, Loreto Baja California Sur.

Loreto's 2017 Blue Whale Festival

This beautiful cetacean, the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus), the largest mammal in the world that reaches between 65 and 100 feet in length, weighing up to 19 tons; visits year after year the Bay of Loreto National Park site of special predilection for this species.

This year the monitoring indicates that there are twice as many Blue Whale specimens as in 2016, about 20 specimens.

Loreto’s 2017 Blue Whale Festival is composed of varied cultural, recreational and tourist activities, where the main activity is the sighting of the specimens in the Bay of Loreto National Park. The Festival offers events such as environmental education workshops for children, sea and beach sports tournaments, photo and pictorial exhibitions, lectures, literary workshops, folk presentations, gastronomic and craft exhibitions, Kite competition, as well as many different musical concerts of genres such as reggae, rock, blues, classical and cumbia.
