St. Louis rejects Los Angeles’ trade proposal for dismal Rams

LOS ANGELES — The city of Los Angeles appears to be stuck with the Rams after failing to work out a deal that would have sent the beleaguered franchise back to St. Louis.

Los Angeles asked for a lifetime supply of Budweiser and a historical landmark to be named later in exchange for the Rams, who embarrassed in their long-awaited return to LA with a season-opening blowout loss to the 49ers.

Talks between the cities reportedly broke down when St. Louis made it clear it would not take back Rams QB Case Keenum in any proposed deal.

“We made what we thought to be a very fair and competitive offer to St. Louis,” Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti said. “Unfortunately, they rejected that offer and subsequently blocked our phone calls.

“Sorry to say to the great people of Los Angeles, but we are officially stuck with the Rams.”

Sources say Los Angeles plans to amps up its pursuit of the Chargers in order give LA a “team the city can be proud of.”
