The Ernst-Grube-Stadion, inaugurated in 1955, served as the home stadium for FC Magdeburg, a renowned football club. It held a significant place in the hearts of both the team and the city. Unfortunately, in 2005, the stadium was demolished, marking the end of an era.

The stadium was named after Ernst Grube, a prominent figure in the city’s history. Grube was a trade unionist and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. The decision to name the stadium after him was a tribute to his contributions and his role in shaping the community.

Throughout its existence, the Ernst-Grube-Stadion played a crucial role in the relationship between FC Magdeburg, its devoted fans, and the city. It was a symbol of unity, where supporters gathered to cheer for their beloved team. The stadium witnessed remarkable moments, including FC Magdeburg’s victory in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1974, bringing immense pride to the city. Although the stadium may be gone, the memories and legacy of the Ernst-Grube-Stadion will forever be cherished by FC Magdeburg and the people of Magdeburg.
