Articles of Note

This One Will Take Awhile As I’m Reading as I Write

Art by Devon J Hall — Loud Mouth Brown Girl

Articles of Note are extra special articles that we should all be reading more of. These are stories written by underrepresented writers or writers who haven’t received as much attention as I have that you should all be reading.

I may turn this into a newsletter or publication in the future, but in the meantime, I decided to share some of these with you in case you want to read them.

by Dr. Mary Marshall, PhD

In this article, Miss Mary speaks to the Black churches of America, and specifically the history of Pastor A. B. Allen as a pastor in Georgia. This is a really great article on Black history that I didn’t know about and absolutely contributes to the culture and education of Black folk everywhere.

N****R Lover

by Jessica Kiragu

White single moms with Black or Brown kids don’t have it easy, and the community that they are surrounded by often makes it harder. I know this from personal experience. Jessica learned a lesson, felt a feeling, and shared that with the world. More power to her.

Tabloid Headlines if We Talked About Men The Way We Talk About Women

by Lisa Borders

This is a really humourous way to look at feminism and at it’s core is heart and laughter. Check it out because we all need to laugh a little bit in times of war and drama.

My White Female Boss Asked Me To Stand Up With Her Against White Men

by Rebecca Stevens A.

Women, specifically, insecure white women, can be a Black woman’s greatest nightmare. Throughout Rebecca’s writing, you’ll notice a theme of mean white girl bullshit, and that’s because Rebecca speaks from real experience and real insight into the way that white women think when they are around a Black woman. We may or may not be superior, but either way, we’ve never really been given the chance to decide if we even want to be. Rebecca highlights that beautifully with all her articles, but especially this one.

These are just some of the really great articles you can read here on Medium, so please, for the love of Goddesses everywhere, do not let me be your only source of Black education.

Sending all my love,

Devon J Hall, The Loud Mouth Brown Girl
