When NWA go on their tour in 1989. Easy E felt the need to bring automatic guns on tour with him for his protection. Easy E has always brought guns with him everywhere he went so tour was no exception. Jerry and the other managers are very confused and mad, so they try to stop him, but Easy E gets his way. In 1990 according to Disastercenter.com “Compton had a population of 90,000 and had a total of 3,141 violent crimes.” So, I could understand coming from their stand point why Easy E might want to carry guns. The Standpoint of the NWA crew would that they are black males from a low-income area in California. Communicationtheory.org describes standpoint theory by saying, “The standpoint theory concerns with the various levels of people’s perceptions. For instance people have similarity in their opinion depending on their demography and it concerns mostly of general issues. The most influential factor that regulates a perception is through experience”. This is a good description for the NWA group. They have been through crime and racial discrimination on the daily. Compared to the manager Jerry who is a white wealthy male. Jerry did not understand the need for guns because his standpoint is different than the rest of NWA and this causes some confusion.
