Howard Hewett — (Shalamar) Second Time Around
Do you remember Howard Hewett from the group Shalamar? He sung a hit song in 1979 titled, Second Time Around. I remember that there were women married and single going through some hard times dealing with men during the time that song was released. It made some women smile to hear that song. Some people really paid attention to the lyrics. There were women thinking about divorce that some other guy could treat them better the second time around. According to divorce statistics, divorce rates had risen steadily in 1979. I’m sure that Howard Hewett (Shalamar) did some men a favor singing that song. Some women never bothered to be with a man the second time around. Some of them were hurt and abused and tired. They never wanted to see another man. There were men trying to convince women that thought about leaving their husbands that they would be the perfect guy. However, to hear Howard Hewett who sung lead in the group Shalamar, probably made some divorced women change their minds about refusing to give a relationship with a man a second try.
There were also married couples that had been together for years. It was very seldom that I heard of some married couples loving each other so much that they married each other twice.
