The Majority
The Dorfman. August 26, 2017

The Majority asks the simple question “Shouldn’t we all be allowed to have an opinion and not be abused for it.” It's an important conversation for us to be having as a nation in the light of Brexit and the Scottish independence referendums.
Rob Drummond (creator, writer, director, actor, story-teller) believes we should be talking, debating and listening to each other. I love that he invites the audience to join him for a discussion at the end of the show. He is in the lobby ready to chat when we all troop out. That is putting your money where your mouth is.
At 90 mins all in (LOVE this as you all know) Drummond uses the hive brain of the audience to ask questions and get the majority to make decisions that affect the flow of the story. It makes you think.
It doesn’t feel gimmicky and he draws on the great TV game show dramatic moments of Mastermind for the spotlight on himself to increase the drama of the question he’s asking. And Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Countdown for the pressure of the timed decision the audience has to make.
With referendums happening more frequently in modern politics, this starts a more inclusive discussion than the “I’m right, you’re wrong” divisiveness of the Brexit referendum. I like that.
I found it interesting that the woman next to me hid her voting pad. And I love that our audience voted 50/50 to let late comers in.
4/5 Thought provoking.
