SERVING ONE ANOTHER

Our greatest service to humanity is by preaching the Word of GOD and teaching peoples of all nations who Jesus Christ truly is, how His death, burial, resurrection and ascension favors them, and why believing in Christ is the key component to them being guaranteed eternal life in heaven.

Our greatest disservice is being nonchalant about our responsibilities as Ambassadors of Christ.

In 2nd Corinthians 5:18–20, Paul in his message to the Church at Corinth reminds us all that we are Ambassadors of Christ, entrusted with the message of reconciliation; that we may teach the world why Jesus really died and was brought back to life by The Glory of GOD; and that in Him and Him alone, we who believe have become the righteousness of GOD through Christ Jesus our LORD.

In 1st Peter 4:10, we are admonished to use our gifts in service to others. It reads;

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

1 Peter 4:10 ESV

I would like to point out here that the gifts Peter was talking about aren’t just our creative gifts & talents (which we all have in abundance), but of spiritual gifts which GOD has freely given us all who wholeheartedly believe in Jesus Christ and in the POWER of His Name.

In 1st Peter 4:11, we get a hint — a glimpse of the gifts Apostle Peter was talking about. It reads thus;

whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies — in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:11 ESV

Just to be clear, 1st Corinthians 12:8–10 clearly outlines these gifts;

For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:8‭-‬10 ESV

*I would encourage us all to take out time and read through 1st Corinthians 12 after this teaching.

As believers, our duty is to edify one another. To encourage GODLINESS & HOLINESS in our everyday living. By nature, this is difficult but by The Spirit of GOD, this is our new/true nature.

A trip down the old testament in Proverbs encourages this practice;

Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

Proverbs 11:25 ESV

To further buttress my point with the above bible verse, 1st Corinthians 3:6–7 reads thus;

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

1 Corinthians 3:6‭-‬7 ESV

As believers, I encourage us all to take up this mantle of responsibility, for we all have a part to play in winning souls for Christ. Imagine if no one told you about the goodness of GOD? Or about the sacrifice and price Jesus Christ paid on the cross of Calvary to set you and I free from all forms of sin and guilt?

Imagine you having such enriching knowledge of Christ and not being willing or bold enough to share!

The parable Jesus gave of the servants and the talents in Matthew 25:14–30 can be likened to this; why bury such beautiful gifts of the true knowledge of salvation? Why choose to be so wicked?

A lot of destinies are dependent on us spreading the good news of the gospel. In helping those who need help; in serving one another with the love and joy of Jesus Christ. Matthew 25:40 truly captures what ‘serving others’ truly represents to Christ;

True service is selfless. We serve others NOT for rewards or appraisal, but because we house the Glory of GOD — which bears many fruits; one of which is called LOVE.

In Conclusion,

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Ephesians 4:29 ESV

As we learn to serve one another in spirit and in truth, I pray that the Grace of GOD is multiplied upon your lives more abundantly and that the gifts of the Spirit in you are multiplied and increased also; for the edification of yourselves, the Church and the entire human race.

Thank you for reading. And thank you for accepting Jesus Christ as your LORD and SAVIOR! GOD BLESS YOU ALL RICHLY!
