- I am kind of a techno snob so I started by purchasing an Apple Pencil, it made easier for me to highlight and take notes. If you don’t want to spring for the branded Apple thing, you might want to try out a stylus pen like the ones below. I don’t think you can use them to write freehand but they certainly come in handy for highlighting:
