I always wrote, that’s the alchemy of an empty shelf, learning to entertain myself, and conjure wealth from the kitchen counter. Or the cupboard, the linoleum floor, hard wood dining table, chandeliers made out of glass and dreams for all I know of… from the pots and pans of a filthy kitchen— I’m at the table to pay rent. I sit playing the black against the white, metaphorically disadvantageous in this game of chess.
