Distance. Distance is such a funny thing, right? It drives people apart, makes them feel helpless, and has them doing all kinds of hysterical stuff that they otherwise wouldn’t do. I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that this probably makes distance a bad thing, right? WRONG!

Distance isn’t always a bad thing. Not at least in the case of our beloved couple Nancy and Parth. They’re one such couple who experienced proximity towards each other BECAUSE of the distance that they had between them. How? Read on to find out!

Meet Parth: Title-holder of unconventional Tinder bio, has an extensive vocabulary and knows the right kind of tattoos to get.

Meet Nancy: Long-time dater, seeker of meaningful conversations, and knows how to ask the right questions when it comes to Harry Potter.

Parth and Nancy met on Tinder. One fine day, when Nancy was swiping on the app, she bumped into this really cool bio of a guy who happened to love Harry Potter just as much as she does. No points for guessing who that guy was. It was Parth! Their mutual love for Harry Potter — including the blockbuster franchise — extended beyond the pages of JK Rowling’s magical prowess, and then there was no looking back. In fact, the two also had a Harry Potter-themed date.

One date after the other is how their relationship eventually progressed. Parth and Nancy soon meet each other’s friends, who were all gaga about the couple.

It had only been a while since they were dating that Nancy decided to move to Canada, which was a little surprising for Parth to hear. He took his time to moon over that information and shortly after decided to move with her to Canada too. Aww!

Both of them decided to embark on their journey together, and both would have reached Canada within a month of each other as well. However, COVID happened and disrupted their plan to be with each other. Nancy arrived in Canada but Parth was left hanging in Mumbai, waiting for his visa. With no end in sight, Parth & Nancy got creative and for 8 months of their long-distance relationship was held together through an active exchange of internet memes.

That’s not all. Long-distance nudged Parth to seek professional help for his mental health, an often neglected discussion even in this day and age — especially in Indian society — with cultural factors and family pressure exacerbating the situation.

While Nancy was settling down in Canada, Parth recognized an opportunity to better his mental health so that he could use the time spent apart to work on himself, thus making their relationship stronger, when they finally reunite.

Nancy and Parth’s love story may have started at an unconventional place (Tinder) and time, but their mutual love for the magical world of Harry Potter helped them overcome their hurdles, as the universe watched and whispered ‘Expecto Patronum!’
