How to Seduce Anyone at All
Regardless of your age, beauty or any other useless distinction
Yes I know, the title is ridiculous — I may as well have called it ‘how to get women into bed’ or ‘how to bag the richest, best-looking man’. Seduction is something different, though.
These 2 alternative titles for this piece (as if I would’ve actually used them) have an underlying assumption, the same assumption the word ‘seduce’ itself has, and that is one of self-absorption.
That to seduce is to get that beautiful woman into bed, to sink your claws into that extremely successful, caring gentleman, to focus on what you want from someone else. To focus on what you can get from another person. To properly seduce is not to aim for an end goal, not to pitch for a ‘homerun’. To push toward a goal is, in the eyes of the person you’re trying to get close to, incredibly unseductive. We’ve all had experiences where someone is only making an effort because they want something from us.
Like the salesperson who stops you on the street and asks ‘how your day is’ before launching into a completely self-serving sales pitch, or the guy who seems to have an intense interest in you only to ghost when he realises you’re not going to sleep with him.
